The Society of Illustrators jury of the Illustrators 54 competition awarded us another GOLD MEDAL for our piece titled pregnant of the The Handmaid’s Tale book, written by Margaret Atwood and published by The Folio Society in 2012. We are very proud and happy to receive this important recognition for two consecutive years: 2011- 2012. We wish to thank the jury of the Society of Illustrators. Of course The Folio Society, the Art Director Sheri Gee and a special thanks to Margaret Atwood for choosing us for this beautiful project.

CHRIS RASCHKA IS HONORED WITH THE CALDECOTT

 

The American Library Association has awarded Chris Raschka ’81 the 2012 Randolph Caldecott Medal for A Ball for Daisy, a wordless story of a dog’s busy day with a red ball. The ALA awards the prestigious annual prize “for the most distinguished American picture book for children.” Raschka’s illustration of The Hello, Goodbye Window by Norton Juster won the medal in 2006, and he also earned a Caldecott Honor in 1994 for Yo! Yes?

Storyopolis Entertainment which encompasses its contemporary and illustrated art galleries is the creation of Matthew Abramowitz. Over the past 15 years he has earned a reputation among artists and collectors for being among the most respected and finest dealers of editorial and illustrated art. Storyopolis has hosted over 80 exhibitions for such artists as Gary Baseman, Calef Brown and greats from the illustrator and graphic novel genre such as Will Eisner and Raul Colon. Matthew Abramowitz’s newest online gallery has a unique and limited collection, which is home to an amazingly diverse group of world-renowned artists. The Storyopolis Gallery abolishes labels and lets the greatness of each piece define itself. it is a place that celebrates artists breaking down the walls of conformity.

The gallery includes such artists as the multi-talented Miguel Paredes whose work brings to life the world of his past in New York and his present day life in Miami.
