Storyopolis Entertainment believes in supporting education in its’ communities. Storyopolis has established a speaker series in Arlington, Texas promoting literacy. Storyopolis Entertainment in partnership with The Texas Rangers Baseball Foundation, the Arlington Convention and Visitors Bureau, and the Arlington Chamber Foundation and jcpenney are united in a fight against illiteracy. Together, we are a strong and positive force – changing Arlington, one book at a time, with an amazing speaker series that successfully kicked off in the fall of 2010.
The mission of the speaker series is to promote a love for reading by providing the opportunity for young readers and their families to meet some of the world’s best authors and illustrators. The speaker series inspires children to read and sparks the imaginations and creativity of children in the community. Getting kids excited about reading further strengthens their study skills to ensure success in school.
Storyopolis Entertainment owners, Matthew and Kristine Abramowitz say, “It is an honor to work with these major players. We like to think of ourselves as, “THE FANTASTIC FIVE”. The Texas Rangers, whose new owners led by Nolan Ryan, have always been leaders in literacy, Wes Jurey, the Head of the Arlington Chamber of Commerce, who is a state and national leader in literacy and education and Jay Burress of the Arlington Convention and Visitors Bureau, who works to make Arlington a premier destination for visitors and advocate for literacy and workforce development”.
We have created a strong model and standard for improving literacy in our community. It is a labor of love to establish a fun learning environment, where kids find its cool to get caught reading. Strenghtening their reading skills will enrich everyone’s world.
One Thursday each month we bring some of the world’s best authors and illustrators of children’s books to Arlington schools where they present and meet the students. That evening, an event is held at the Rangers Ballpark in Arlington which offers parents an outstanding venue to meet, be a part of an interview with the author/illustrator and ask questions.
